RETIRED FIRE CHIEF CONCERNED WITH SAFETY AROUND POPULAR DOWNTOWN FALL EVENT
11/13/2017 9:49:07 AM

Retired Orangeville Fire Chief Andy Macintosh has raised safety concerns with the downtown Harvest Celebration.

The late October event attracts young families for trick-or-treating at stores.

Business Improvement Area (BIA) General Manager Alison Scheel says they do have safety measures in place.

Should Broadway be open or closed is always a debate among the BIA board. But Scheel says having the road open keeps people on the sidewalks to access all the businesses.

Macintosh plans to approach the BIA closer to next year's event to discuss enhancing safety.
