11/11/2017 1:22:51 PM

There was a new addition to this year's Remembrance Day ceremony in Orangeville.

President of the Legion Chris Skalozub says they honoured the sacrifices of Sikh soldiers.

Narinder Paul Singh says hundreds of thousands of Sikhs from the Indian Sub-Continent fought and died with the Allied forces, including Canada and the Britsh during conflict.

Approximately 1.2-million Indians volunteered to fight for the British India Army in WWI, making them the largest volunteer army in the Great War.

In the last two World Wars, 83,005 Turban wearing Sikh soldiers were killed and 109,045 were wounded.
