Hundreds gathered around the Orangeville Cenotaph in Alexandra Park for an emotional tribute to the men and women who have fallen in war.
Among the veterans in attendance Saturday (Nov. 11) was Jack Campbell who served in the Navy in the Second World War.
Fred Singer, who immigrated from Ireland, is remembering his father Frank.
Gary Willard was a Sergeant in Vietnam and Acting Major in the United States Marine Corp.
Gary Bailey was a Chief Warrant Officer who served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in the Korean War. His father served with the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps in the Second World War.
Local dignitaries and members of the community closed the ceremony by laying wreaths and placing their poppy on the cenotaph.
A sunset service is held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in the afternoon with poppies laid at gravesites.
