Farm Credit Canada (FCC) travelled through Dufferin County today (Wed. Oct. 11) for its Drive Away Hunger tractor tour.

Lindsay District Director for FCC Bob Daniels says it's a unique food drive that involves driving a tractor and trailer through communities to collect food and cash donations for food banks across the country.

Hyland Heights Elementary School in Shelburne once again gave back to the campaign through its "Me to We" program.

Planning Teacher Jeannette French says it's a group of students from grade five to eight who do volunteer work in the school and fundraise for the school and the local and global community.

Last year they were able to collect 700 lbs of food and this year they surpassed their goal and gathered 712 lbs.

Since 2004, FCC Drive Away Hunger has provided 33-million meals.

Other schools FCC visited today were Grand Valley and District Public School, Laurelwoods Elementary, and Glenbrook Elementary School.
