5/19/2017 5:29:45 PM

Police believe a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant is living in Orangeville.

Walter Madeaus Brooks is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for witness in the Supreme Court case against Demarques Shane Beals.

Beals is facing a second degree murder charge in the death of 19 year-old Keya Knita Simon.

Back in January 2011, Halifax Police responded to a report of a stabbing in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. When officers arrived, they found Simon unresponsive inside an apartment. Her 32 year-old sister had also been stabbed. In August 2014, police charged Beals in relation to Simon's death.

The homicide trial began in Halifax, Nova Scotia on May 15, 2017 and Brooks is a witness in the trial.

A warrant for witness was issued for Brooks on May 12th, when he failed to make arrangements with police or the Crown to attend court.

Police believe he lives in Orangeville, but he is originally from the Halifax area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Orangeville Police, Halifax Police, or Crime Stoppers.
