CAO BACKS TREASURER AFTER POLICE CONSULTANT'S CRITICAL RESPONSE TO OPP COSTING ANALYSIS
4/20/2017 9:49:47 AM

Orangeville's Chief Administrative Officer is sticking up for his treasurer after a policing consultant casted doubt on Marc Villeneuve's OPP costing analysis.

Ed Brennan says the analysis was not meant to be confrontational, nor competitive, and that it was done by an extremely competent professional, with some reasonable and conservative assumptions.

Maurice Hodgson, a long time police officer and police services adviser and consultant, called Villeneuve's report a "flawed document."

The analysis suggests there would be significant savings following an OPP three-year transitional contract.

Brennan says it's unfortunate there was no consultation with Villeneuve prior to Hodgson's presentation to the police services board on Tuesday (Apr. 18).

He adds it's their duty to bring that information to light for council to factor into any future decision on policing services.
